This seminar is valid for:
- MA EU (Modul 5 Advanced Political Science and Study Project: Politics in Europe)

Inhalt:
Participants will develop their own individual (or small-group) projects on topics concerning current political issues around the EU. Besides acquainting you with state-of-the-art knowledge about the EU from a political-science perspective, this training in independent study is intended to prepare you for the demands of the MA thesis.
At the beginning of the term, the first session(s) will introduce the participants to the basic idea of independent study, the requirements of the project seminar, and particularly the "project report" that is to result from it, and to finding suitable topics for the projects.
Towards the end of the semester, participants will present and discuss their projects ("work in progress") to/with each other.

This seminar is taught in English (there is also a German version).

Empfohlene Literatur:
The elaboration of a reading list will be part of the task for each project.
As an introductory sourcebook, we recommend, among other books:

Joergensen, Knud Erik, Mark A. Pollack, and Ben Rosamond (eds.), Handbook of European Union Politics, London et al.: Sage 2006.

(contains 29 essays, with extensive references, on just about all fundamental issues concerning regional integration theory, the EU as a polity, the EU and international relations, and EU policies)

Zusätzliche Informationen:
The language of instruction is English.
Project reports can be submitted in English, French or German.
