Voraussetzungen / Organisatorisches: In this course, we will be tackling between two and three real translation projects, i.e. projects that will be published (hopefully) at the end of the semester. All projects are websites but each one has an entirely different topic to the one before. Course participants will independently work on the projects in groups – there will only be minimal interference by the teacher during the individual input sessions (I am guessing that we will meet approximately 5 or 6 times during the semester). The combination of two groups into one large group has the benefit that you will be able to directly converse with all other groups and should not pose a major logistical problem as we will not be meeting very often. All groups will need to translate and proof-read the various sections of the websites. There will be no exam at the end of the semester – your grade will be based on participation alone! It is vital that you attend the first session so that you can join a group! I would also ask that students who are unsure whether to take the course, please email me (signersa@uni-mainz.de) ahead of time with possible questions as there is very little that is more frustrating than having to constantly assign new groups. If, for some reason, you cannot make it to the first session, you must also email me so that I can put you in contact with a translation group. Students who are not present in the first session and who do not email me will not be admitted to the course!
