Voraussetzungen / Organisatorisches: Coursebook for Part 1 and Part 2: International Legal English (22011 Cambridge University Press; 978-3-12-535190-5). Prerequisites: C-Test English with qualification for level C1 or successful completion of an English course at the B2.2 or C1 level (B2.2 leaving grade 2,3 or better). Credit Requirements: a)regular participation and session preparation b) special assignments c) a short final exam
Inhalt: This is Part 1 of a new two-part course designed to introduce students to English law and the daily reality of legal professionals in the UK. Using the format of a language class, the participants will be familiarized with the most essential legal areas legal professionals are faced with on a day-to-day basis: company law, contract law, employment law, property law, competition law and transnational commercial law. The course trains all four language skills and contains many task-based elements (case studies, lawyer-client conversations, real life situations). Part 2 will be offered in the coming winter term.
