Inhalt: All you wanted to know about ditransitive constructions … The course is based on my recent and current work on the typology of ditransitive constructions (Malchukov, Haspelmath & Comrie 2010). The course will center on the ditransitive constructions formed by 3-argument verbs such as ‘give’, ‘show’ and ‘tell’, but along the way it will introduce the students to all major issues in syntactic typology (including ergativity, serial verb constructions, relativization, reflexives and anaphora, to name a few), as well as to the emerging field of lexical typology.
