Voraussetzungen / Organisatorisches: This course is intended for MA and DIPLOM students ONLY! BA students MUST sign up for the appropriate course (Leistungsueberpruefung or Modulpruefung). If you sign up for the wrong course, you will not be included in the pool from which Jogustine selects the participants for this course! Please do NOT ask me to let you into the class if Jogustine does not select you! We have very limited space, equipment and oxygen in our computer-based classroom and only the 24 students selected by Jogustine will be able to attend the class. Please note that Mr. Ron Walker offers a parallel class to this one! We both accept both British and American English for class work and examinations!
Inhalt: This course will differ from my previous courses in commercial translation for MA and Diplom students in that there will be MUCH LESS teacher-centered instruction and MUCH MORE autonomous work done by the students! The exact topic and the nature of your work will be discussed and decided on with the entire group during our first class session. Please note that you will need to bring a notebook computer (PC or Mac) with you to most of our class sessions. As you surely know, translators do not write texts with pen and paper and we will not be doing so in this class either. If you decided to take the course, please be prepared to work autonomously and collaboratively on an authentic or simulated translation project throughout the semester! The exact topic will be communicated to you at our initial class session.
