Voraussetzungen / Organisatorisches: The historical novel became one of the most popular genres in nineteenth-century Britain. In this course we will explore how specific historical periods were portrayed in novels and how authors dealt with the tension between history and nostalgia. We will also look at the way the historical novel influenced the adventure novel.
