Inhalt: Reading and literature have become part of our day to day life – so we as future teachers need to know how to teach our students the pleasure of literature. In this seminar, students will learn the various issues of teaching a literary text: we will explore the different genres, such as plays or novels. Furthermore, students will then learn how to teach literature their future pupils in the foreign language classroom. We will start with answering the question what literature is, and then we will go on to answering why we teach literature and last but not least we will take a closer look at how to teach literature in the classroom. If you wish to obtain a Schein, you will have to do the following: - Plan and conduct one session (group work): here you can be as creative as you want to, but do not make it a boring Referat. Rather make it a lively, active and task-based session in which your fellow students gain knowledge in a practical and interactive way. (If you need help, just ask me!) - Participate in the project work phase, during which you will have to design a teaching unit based on a literary text of your choice (group work): I will explain this in greater detail in due course. o I will grade the one session you conduct and you will grade your fellow students’ projects. These two grades then add up to your course grade! - Prepare the homework readings - you are not allowed to miss more than three sessions In the last session (or the second last, if you wish) you are free to sit an exam, which will be graded as 10% of your final Staatsexamensnote. Alternatively, you can also take an oral exam in TEFL during your final exam period.
