Inhalt: If the British tabloid press is anything to go by, then what is sometimes called the "British Disease" is running rampant in the UK today. However, worries about excessive alcohol consumption are far from a new thing in Britain, but can be traced back to (at least) the early modern period. The aim of this course is to investigate alcohol use and abuse as well as its representation in media, politics and the arts across British history.
Empfohlene Literatur: A course outline, list of presentations and master copies of reading materials will be available in March in Frau Wächter's office (information via Jogustine).
