Voraussetzungen / Organisatorisches:
You will receive an introductory email to your university mail account, which will present you with a list of possible presentation topics and further instructions. Please answer this email as soon as you can, as otherwise I will just assign you a topic.

Bachelor students have to do a short presentation (10-15 minutes) and have to write a seminar paper (Hausarbeit) of 6-8 pages. Magister/Lehramt students have to do a presentation as well, and write a seminar paper of 10-12 pages.

This class is NOT a Proseminar Literaturwissenschaft! You cannot get a "Schein" for an Anglistik Proseminar, ONLY for Englische Sprachwissenschaft! If you are not sure what that means or whether you need a "sprachwissenschaftliches Proseminar" at all, please ask me before you register!

Inhalt:
In this class, we will look at how British authors use language in a creative way, with a special focus on word-formation. We will identify methods and sources these authors use, linking literature with linguistics. Presentations as well as papers will be on specific authors and their use of language, so this class will involve reading several primary texts, i.e. novels, as well as linguistic textbooks for the theoretical background.

Empfohlene Literatur:
A list of relevant literature will be available when you register for a presentation.
If you think you know a novel that would be particularly suited for inclusion in this class, I am also open to suggestions, if they come soon enough after registration closes.
