Voraussetzungen / Organisatorisches: Bereich: Internationale Beziehungen (International Relations) Seminar in englischer Sprache
Inhalt: What is American exceptionalism and does it still exist? Will the Obama Administration embrace multilateralism or continue down the path of unilateralism? In essence, what is the balance between continuity and change in U.S. foreign policy? This seminar examines the above questions as it analyzes U.S. foreign policy vis-a-vis its relationship with East Asia. First, the course discusses certain themes in American foreign policy. The second section will use these themes to analyze the U.S.'s historical relationship with the region. Finally, the course will examine current U.S. relations with the major powers in the region, such as China and Japan, and discuss the critical issues that the U.S. faces.
