Voraussetzungen / Organisatorisches: Prospective participants will act as pronunciation coaches, i.e. they will assess, diagnose and help to improve the faulty pronunciation of fellow students, who either failed the oral exam in 'Phonetik I' or scored low in it. As a coach you have to have an (almost) impeccable pronunciation. Your grade in the oral section of your 'Phonetikschein' should not be lower than 2.3. We will first look at pronunciation errors typical of German students of English and then deal with the diagnostic means to profile students' abilities. The main section of the seminar will be devoted to practising with fellow students, developing exercises and monitoring results. We will discuss intermediary results from time to time. You are welcome and encouraged to recruit fellow students who are willing to improve their pronunciation. It would be advantageous if you had the technical means to make sound recordings, but this is not a must. To obtain credit you will have to write a seminar paper describing and analysing the pronunciation of the fellow student whom you coached.
