Inhalt:
This class will concentrate on all problems arising with the translation of English and British short stories into German. As the ultimate objective is the publication of the best translations, this class is for experienced and highly qualified students only. If you are interested in taking part in this enterprise, see me in my office hours. Students should read as many stories as possible from the collections listed below before the term begins, think about which texts or authors they are particularly interested in, and then read more stories by plus additional information on these authors. Try to make yourself an expert of the writer you have selected and his or her styles. Make sure you've got reasons for your selections of authors and stories. Students should also get hold of a copy of the Reader for the classes on short stories in the summer of 2007.
