Voraussetzungen / Organisatorisches: In this course, participants will concentrate on a number of tasks involved in managing translation projects. Each participant will be assigned several translators working on several authentic projects in the instructor's translation prractice classes, and will be responsible for guiding the translators through the steps they will need to follow to produce a high-quality translation, and do it efficiently and with a professional attitude. This group of project managers will only meet a few times this semester; the rest of your work can be done at a distance via Moodle, our online learning platform, and via Slack, an excellent team-communication programme. You will also need to know how to use Memsource, and you will need to attend a learning session on the second Wednesday in the semester (during our regular class time. You will also need to attend the initial class on 26 October to be introduced to the translating team and the project. We will meet again once or twice during the semester as needed. Please note that successful completion of this course can be used as evidence of project management training when seeking a job in the language mediation professions. Great emphasis will be placed on working efficiently and ethically will the other members of the translation and project management team.
