Voraussetzungen / Organisatorisches: Please note that this is a "Blockkurs" with double sessions (3h) until the end of May. The exam will take place in the last (May) session. This also means that you are not allowed to miss more than one full session (including the first!).
Inhalt: This course will - lo and behold - tackle narrative(s). But what constitutes a narrative in the first place? And how can we as interested readers, viewers, and listeners engage with it? How can we approach a short story/novel/film/comic etc. in a scholarly way? How can we analyse it systematically (its structure/constituents etc.) and how can this analysis alter and/or inform our deeper understanding of that work? In order to answer these questions and many more, we will be looking at different theoretical frameworks aquiring a "toolkit" for narrative analysis which we will then put into practice using examples from different media. Please note that this is an "Übung", so the course will be rather interactive, and participation is expected (for instance in the form group work).
