Voraussetzungen / Organisatorisches: There are many reasons why we read and as many ways of doing it. There is a widespread belief that reading is good for you in educational, professional or even health contexts. – In this seminar we are looking at fundamental questions of what a literary text is and why it is a pleasure to read it for its form and content. We are also looking into the most recent research concerning reading literature and empirical methods to do this kind of research. And, finally, we are also discussing political and cultural implications of the ideologies of reading in a historical perspective.
