Voraussetzungen / Organisatorisches:
To pass, you will have to submit a term paper and give a presentation on a topic you can choose freely. Students enrolled in this class as an “Übung” will only have to hold a presentation.  

Inhalt:
In this seminar, we will explore the most recent developments in American Drama. We will mostly focus on plays that were published within the last 20 years, while also looking at a few selected plays of which the influence can still be felt today. There will be minor focuses on certain dramatists that stood and continue to stand out for their innovative approaches to creating the theater experience. During the semester, we will also talk about recurring themes in American theater and how those are revisited and reinvented by contemporary dramatists. 

Empfohlene Literatur:
In the course of the semester we will read several plays together, which I will make available to you.

Zusätzliche Informationen:
As the semester is very short, we will start with presentations in the second week. If you want to start early, the topics will be available on ILIAS by mid-March. I will send you an e-mail via Jogustine to notify you about it. I'm always open for any questions (mloerc01@uni-mainz.de).
