Voraussetzungen / Organisatorisches: In this M.A. cultural studies class we will read and discuss historical essays and articles on the status of women and the movement for equal rights for women from colonial times until the 20th century. We will focus on selected topics, specifically on suffrage (as the year is 2019!), but also on property rights, the right to education and work, birth control and sexual choice. In addition to reading texts uploaded on ILIAS, students are expected to do research work in small groups during class sessions and to take a short final test at the end of the semester (essay questions). Please, be aware that this class requires a fair amount of reading!
