Inhalt: Memory and biography studies is a field studied by various academic disciplines. It is also a major field of interest in Cultural Anthropology. Biographies and memories are intertwined with individual and collective processes and often also with historical events. As researchers of the everyday lives and people, we are interested not only what a person remembers and tells about his or her life when we conduct biographical research and/or interviews. We also consider how they narrate their biographical memories, what they stress and focus on, and what they leave out of their narrations. Please note that this seminar is taught in English. All course readings and student presentations are also in English. The “Hausarbeit” can be written in German.
