Voraussetzungen / Organisatorisches: In this seminar we will be reading short stories and shorter fiction by writers such as James Hogg, John Galt, Walter Scott, John Gibson Lockhart, Robert Louis Stevenson, Margaret Oliphant, JM Barrie and others. Assessment will be on the basis of an essay of 2,500-3,000 words. Active participation and a presentation will also be a requirement for successful completion of the seminar. Essay topics will be given out towards the end of semester.
Empfohlene Literatur: Reading for this seminar will include: The Brownie of the Black Haggs (James Hogg), The Two Drovers (Walter Scott), Markheim (Robert Louis Stevenson) The Schoolhouse (JM Barrie) The Library Window (Margaret Oliphant. Longest work will be the novel Adam Blair by John Gibson Lockhart. A free copy of this will be given to all course members after registration (can be collected from me in room 242).
