Voraussetzungen / Organisatorisches: Course language: english. Lecture and tutorial The course VBM 20/21 will only be held virtually. All lectures and tutorials will be audio recorded and made available via LMS Moodle (see below) and the chair´s downloadcenter (see homepage). Inhalt: • Main Fields of Application, Instruments & Requirements of Value Based Management • Shareholder Value Approach and Maximizing Market Value • Traditional Performance Measures and their Limits • General Adequacy of Residual Income as a Performance Measure • Value Added Measures and Concepts: EVA • Value Added Measures and Concepts: CVA & ERIC • Importance and Limits of Adjustments • Determining the Cost of Capital • Risk-adjusted vs. Risk-free Costs of Capital as Hurdle Rates • Management Compensation Schemes: Practice vs. Theory • Implementing VBM, Value Drivers & Balanced Scorecard The concepts of value-oriented performance measures such as EVA, CVA and ERIC are conveyed in the context of value-based management. The content of the lecture is completed with exercises and case studies.
