Voraussetzungen / Organisatorisches: We will read and discuss texts that show the historical development in American thinking on the pervasive issues of race and ethnicity. We will focus on parallels and differences between the two concepts, discuss the nature of stereotyping and the paradigm of intersectionality and apply all these discourses to Jewish Americans, African Americans and Native Americans as our sample groups. The class combines synchronous class sessions via MS Teams and asynchronous work assignments (research, small group work). During the last class session there will be a take-home test with essay questions. For regular students the test will be graded pass/fail (bestanden/nicht bestanden), ERASMUS students will be able to get a grade.
