Inhalt:
In this course, we will cover different research methods to explore linguistic variation in English. Linguistic variation is considered across these dimensions: speaker-related variables (age, gender, socio-economic status, etc.) and language-related variables (grammar, lexis, variety, etc.).

We will mostly work with corpus data, using MS Excel to code and analyse the data (incl. data visualisation and basic statistics), but also create surveys and try out different tools that help analyse and visualise data (e.g., LancsBox, boxplots, word clouds).
