Inhalt: On the basis of a selection of representative texts, this course will provide a survey of the main epochs of British Literature since the Renaissance, recapitulate literary genres/sub-genres, protagonists and terminology and identify potential exam and thesis topics. The texts treated provide the exam topics for the “Modulprüfung” to be taken by M.Ed. students.
Empfohlene Literatur: WIlliam Shakespeare, King John (1594-96), Maria Edgeworth, Letters for Literary Ladies (1795/98), Joseph Conrad, The Secret Agent (1907), Angela Carter, Heroes and Villains (1969), as well as the additional materials provided via Moodle. All students are expected to have read all texts, ideally before the start of the semester!
Zusätzliche Informationen: Course requirements: All students: Completion of preparatory tasks and further tasks set as "aktive Teilnahme.". M.A. students: writing a short (3-4-page) term paper on a topic previously discussed with me; M.Ed. students: oral exam. More information in the detailed course description in Moodle.
