Inhalt: This course is designed as a general introduction to literary studies and aims to familiarise students with the fundamentals necessary for the study of English literatures. The course will provide students with important critical concepts and methods in order to further their skills of description, analysis, and interpretation, as well as acquaint them with different theoretical approaches to literature. For illustration, we will draw on representative textual examples from a variety of genres and periods. Assessment tasks will be specified in class.
