Voraussetzungen / Organisatorisches:
Students should have a good command of English, be willing to contribute to course discussions and to do a short oral mock exam in front of the other students in the class. The course will rely on preexisting knowledge from Introductions to Literary Studies, Surveys of British Culture and seminars on British Literature and Culture.

Inhalt:
The course will equip students for the final oral exam by taking them through the epochs of British Literature and Culture. Worksheets will present central authors and texts, and key texts will have to be prepared for each session to examine in more detail characteristics of writing at a particular time. The course is designed to refresh students’ knowledge of structures, forms, and genres, but also historical events, developments, and ideologies and to fill the gaps that are inevitable in a highly structured degree scheme. Students are asked to contribute from their own store of knowledge and experience. They will also do a short oral mock exam on what may become one of their proper exam topics. This mock exam will be assessed by the entire group and become part of a joint learning experience.
