Inhalt: In the context of this film praxis we will form groups and produce films that utilise the space and environment around us to create narratives and meaning(s). We will begin with a brief look at documentaries and essay films, like Empire (Andy Warhol 1964), 13 Lakes (James Benning, 2004), D'Annunzio's Cave (Heinz Emigholz, 2005), Toponimia (Jonathan Perel, 2015), The Negative Hands (Marguerite Duras, 1978), The Neighbour Before the House (Shaina Anand, 2012), The Hymns of Moscovy (Dimitri Venkov, 2017), Altiplano (Malena Szlam, 2018). We will then invite two filmmakers to talk to us about such processes. Once we establish how the street and the city, the land and a building's interior or exterior can become more than a background we will proceed with conceiving and completing short films that are not simply about landscape, streetscape, cityscape or architecture but instead work with them as protagonists. In this particular exercise "humans are not included", at least not in the foreground
