Inhalt: This course (with a contribution by Patryk Czerwinski) will discuss selected typologically interesting features of individual Siberian languages. Partially the data will come from Tungusic languages, which I have done my field research on, in particular, from North-Tungusic Even (see Malchukov 1995 for a brief presentation) and East-Tungusic Orok (fieldwork by Patryk Czerwinski). We will also discuss other Siberian languages (see the relevant chapters in Comrie 1981 for a survey), and focus on their typologically prominent features (e.g., ergativity in Chukchee, templatic morphology of Ket, etc). It is expected that for the last classes the students will prepare a short presentation (Kurzreferat) on the basis of recommended literature.
