Voraussetzungen / Organisatorisches: This course is designed to introduce you to several key moments in Native American history, their political and social implications, and cultural representations in literature and media. The events that we will discuss and analyze are Indian Removal (1820s-30s), sttler colonialism and their consequences for Native Americans, especially in the Midwest (1860-90s), the formation of the American Indian Movement in the 1970s, and the recent Standing Rock protests in North Dakota.
