Voraussetzungen / Organisatorisches: Die Teilnahme von Erasmus-Studierenden und Hörer:innen ist möglich. Der Kurs findet in Präsenz in der Projektwoche statt.
Anwesenheitspflicht: Please note: For those of you who are taking this class as an introductory course in consecutive interpretation, we will spend an entire day (Thursday) exploring practical consecutive interpreting En-Ger with all its aspects: memory training, note-taking exercised, presentation skills, ethics of interpreting etc. By the end of the day, you will be more than competent to demonstrate your newly-developed skills in a very brief test in order to determine your grade for the class, so keep in mind that Thursday's attendance is mandatory if you need a grade.
Inhalt: Crisis Translation localises the quick-to-change multifaceted flow of information during a crisis; that is, it translates highly complex information and information structures into concrete and manageable bits of information and action. How does it differ from other forms of translation? Who are those stakeholders, and what do translators and interpreters need to keep in mind in a crisis situation? By means of a series of Exit Games, participants will acquire key competences for crisis management. Working in teams, students will come to understand the different aspects of crisis translation and apply that knowledge in practical settings, either as translators or by exploring the practical aspects of working as interpreters in a short-consecutive mode.
