Inhalt: This course explores the central role played by translators and translation in shaping the literary and cultural heritage of the English-speaking world. It examines how translations came into being, which conduits were used to disseminate them and what influence they had more broadly on the cultural life of the period in which they emerged. Drawing on fictional genres, such as drama, poetry and the novel, as well as scientific, political and historical works, this course examines the seminal contribution of translation to key literary, cultural and artistic movements of the modern period.
Empfohlene Literatur: Reading material will be made available each week.
