Inhalt: In this course we will focus on the flowering of modernist American drama in the years after World War II. We will read major dramatic texts that exemplify how American playwrights such as Tennessee Williams, Arthur Miller, Lorraine Hansberry, Lillian Hellman, and others have developed a new dramatic form that combines realistic and symbolic qualities. We will explore how these plays also offer a critical investigation of American society in the second half of the twentieth century.
