Voraussetzungen / Organisatorisches: This course is meant to help students understand the narratological methods writers use in the construction of their short stories. We will first start out with some theoretical thoughts about the theory of the short story as a genre and critically analyze stories from different literary periods, which address a variety of issues. Some of the stories are linked to specific regions or time periods of the United States. Some of the examples we discuss focus on the issues of gender and ethnicity.
