Inhalt: Although description is a pervasive and relevant feature of fictional texts, it is rarely studied as a literary phenomenon of its own. This seminar will study a broad selection of descriptions taken from texts from different genres written at different points in literary history. You will consider the depiction of objects, places and people and address, among other things, how changing cultural interests influence the way authors choose to describe them.
Empfohlene Literatur: Materials will be made available via Moodle.
Zusätzliche Informationen: Course requirements depending on the module within which you are studying this course. Further information about this and the requirements for active participation will be announced in class.
