IIn this class we will read and discuss original text material (essays, fiction, legal documents, newspaper articles) concerning concepts of nature from the late 19th century to the 21st century. We will analyse the change of attitudes towards and ideas on nature and the environment. We will discuss the national park movement, the changing focus in the ecological movement, Native American ideas of nature and the genre of nature writing.
Your assignments in this class will be:
participation in classroom discussions
a final test (essay questions)
