This class provides a thorough revision of linguistic topics. In the first half of this semester, we will revisit aspects from all levels of linguistic analysis by taking a closer look at key concepts and concrete examples. In the second half of the semester, we will then consider various special topics, such as language and gender, language and media, or Contrastive Linguistics. In other words, this class is meant to update and/or promote participants’ knowledge of basic concepts and major schools of thought in linguistics as well as their skills in basic research methodologies in the study of language.
