Requirements / organisational issues:
For being granted Active Participation, participants are expected to thoroughly prepare a well-informed 10 minutes presentation on an agreed-on topic to be ‘defended’ in class and successfully take part in a 10 minutes mock exam on a second topic to be individually negotiated.
Contents:
This class is meant to update and/or promote participants’ knowledge of basic concepts and major schools of thought in linguistics as well as their skills in basic research methodologies in the study of language. At the same time, this course will offer the opportunity to discuss and elaborate on linguistic issues that will serve as bases for students’ prospective Master exams.
