Requirements / organisational issues:
This will be a course in elementary Spanish offered for two different groups of students. First: those in the English or German Department who wish to obtain ÜBUNG credit towards the module in foreign language teaching (Fremdsprachendidaktik). (These students will be taking the course in order to learn about an approach to teaching in an unconventional, naturalistic manner. And Second: students who do NOT wish to earn credit for the course but who wish to learn basic Spanish using our naturalistic approach. All FTSK students are eligible to participate in the course as auditors.
Please note that the course will take place from 17-28 July (Monday through Friday) and from 10:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. (Students will be expected to attend ALL class sessions! As is the case for all classes at the FTSK, no more than 2 90-minute absences will be permitted.
Students wishing to take the course for FSD Übung credit must sign up normally for this course on Jogustine. Students wishing to learn Spanish, but who do NOT wish to receive credit for the course towards the FSD module must sign up as AUDITORS (Hörer). Only students who sign up in one of these ways on Jogustine can be accommodated in the course.
Please be advised that this will NOT be a conventional course with grammar lessons and lectures! Students will be interacting naturally in a variety of simulated and authentic situations and will be learning in a highly intuitive manner. Nevertheless, students who apply themselves can expect to attain a level of approximately A2 by participating fully in the two-week course.
Course requirements: As there will be 50 contact hours in this course, the participants will be required to 1) attend and participate fully in all classes, and 2) write a one-page personal assessment of the course and their own success at learning Spanish.
