Contents:
In this seminar, you will read widely and you will study relevant linguistic and translation theories of the past 70 years - all in terms of relevance to the application of these theoretical approaches in practice. You will familiarise yourself with the linguistic foundations which can be useful for translators and you will examine these foundations critically. You will further study theoretical approaches from within Translation Studies: prescriptive, descriptive and empirical, in addition to mathematical models implemented in user interfaces.
