Content:
B1: Abstract topics, general culture. Expressing opinion, alternatives, beliefs, (dis)agreement. Checking and confirming information, difficulties. Daily situations; traveling.
B2: Authentic media documents, documentary, interview, news, current reality aspects. General topics in science, technology. Detailed information and description. Conditions, intructions, explanations, argumentative discourse with of medium to higher complexity. Use of monolingual dictionaries.
Practicing: current and abstract vocabulary; idioms and phraseology; grammar (syntax), oral and written communication (listening and reading comprehension – medium complexity texts and discourses; authentic documents; free and guided conversation on abstract topics; text summary, critical discussion; conversational patterns and speech acts of medium complexity.
Evaluation: B1, B2, C1, C2 tests:
67%: vocabulary, grammar (listening and reading comprehension and written text production; 120 min.);
33% oral communication (10 min.; 33%).

By the end of the course the student
(B1) can describe unpredictable situations, explain the main aspects of a situation with sufficient precision, on topics like family, hobbies, occupations, traveling, current issues, abstract or cultural matters, with some hesitations, repetitions, difficulties.
(B2) can express clearly and adequately one’s ideas, without reducing the content, by communicating opinion and advancing argumentation, make accurate descriptions, using complex sentences, about general, educational, professional topics.
