Requirements / organisational issues:
This course was designed for students with Chinese as (one of) their foreign language/s.
There is no certain knowledge or understanding of technology required for this course, although it would be helpful, of course. However, what is expected from students is a certain willingness to engage in the search for terms and translation solutions with tenacity, not just on the internet but also in other media, including technical books.

Contents:
In this course we are going to translate texts of various kinds about motor vehicles and their subsystems as well as texts about other technical things. To manage the technical terms encountered in our texts, we shall develop a glossary together.
The kinds of texts we shall look at will be: popular introductions to technical contents, user manuals, repair and maintenance manuals as well as product descriptions.
