The lecture will deal with the legislative and executive body within the German political system. A special emphasis will be on the federal level. The composition and constitutional context of the legistaltive and executive body will be addressed. Theories and approaches guiding the analysis of parliament and government will be introduced and applied to the Bundestag and the Bundesregierung. In addition, attention will be drawn to the relations and interdependiencies of parliament and government in the German context. Furthermore, a comparison with the Länder level will reveal similarities and differences. The lecture will also cover phenomena of de-parliamentarization (Judicialisation, Europeanisation).
