This introductory course provides an overview of selected concepts and sub-disciplines of French linguistics (sociolinguistics, language policy, corpus linguistics etc.). Possible practical applications of the theories studied will be illustrated with examples from various translation scenarios (subtitling, literary translation, specialised translation etc.).
