The lecture is scheduled for two semesters and is intended to provide a broad overview of Italian literature from its beginnings to the present. The aim is not so much historical completeness as rather an exemplary introduction to the most important periods of Italian cultural history based on literature. Accordingly, in addition to literature, philosophy and art will also be taken into consideration.
The first part comprises: Middle Ages, Humanism, Renaissance, Baroque, Mannerism, Enlightenment.
The second part (probably in the coming SS) will then focus on the literature of modernity from the Romantic period to the present. The lecture program will then include the following periods: Romanticism, Risorgimento, Scapigliatura, Verism, Decadentism, Futurism, Neorealism, Neo-Avantgarde.
