This course can be taken as part of the module "Tourism (MA)" or in order to earn extra credit.
Contents:
In this course we plan to translate various texts having to do with tourism. They will mainly be text tourist get into direct contact with, like description of touristic offers, of tourist attractions, within the hotel and others.
In the summer we translated texts about Germersheim and its evirons for Chinese travellers. This term, however, we weill try to translate tourism texts from China for German tourists.
Aims:
- familiarization with various types of texts occurring in and around tourism and their features
- compiling words and expressions useful for these contexts
- developing strategies to cope with various typical translation problems which are likely to turn up in texts of these kinds
- raising awareness for issues of intercultural communication in toursim contexts
Additional information:
There is the possibility to earn credit, either as regular credit or as additional credit.
