Technical translation and digital media
The new media have changed the need for translation. Many customers need translation solutions for social media postings, online campaigns and online manuals, corporate films and image films. Online courses, webinars, software and apps need to be adapted as well. Translations are being made into more and more languages, for more and more platforms and in ever shorter periods of time. Besides, professional language service providers must deal with frequent updates. What does this mean for the way the work? What role do risk, project and quality management play, and what about the use of translation technologies?
Translation and Translation Studies is currently undergoing a fundamental change. In recent years, automatic translation has become an expanding market. At the same time, the translation industry is growing, covering a wide spectrum of new applications such as live subtitling, the translation of audio-visual material as, for example, corporate films, product films, instructional videos, and so on. As translators handle not only translation, but also editing or post-editing processes, the role models for translators have become ever more diverse. Taking a closer look at these developments, what will be the future prospects of translation?
(Please note that the lecture will be held in German.)
