The long 19th century was characterized by massive changes, even upheavals. The transformation of the economy was fundamental: a competitive economy gradually took shape, giving new meaning to property, enabling legal forms, allowing new types of capital accumulation, leading to fundamentally changed labour markets and producing a wide variety of intermediary organisations that left a lasting mark on the economy. What were the driving forces behind this development, what were the carriers of this development and what role did the founding of the empire play?
The introductory lecture offers an overview of the economic development and change in 19th century Germany.
Digital teaching:
The lecture will initially be held digitally, in accordance with the currently valid conditions. As soon as and if possible during the current semester, it will take place at regular time on campus. The decision on this will be made in consultation with the participants.
