Playwright Arthur Miller gained fame with Death of a Salesman (1949) and was to write many plays until he died in 2005. His plays, which are frequently seen as examples of psychological realism, all focus on moral and social questions the indiviual faces. Apart from looking at Death of a Salesman, we will discuss The Crucible, which deals with the Salem Witchcraft Trials, Incident at Vichiy, Broken Glass and Playing for Time, which deal with the Nazi Regime and the Holocaust, as well as The Last Yankee, which is set in a mental hospital.
Additonally, we will discuss a number of Arthur Miller's essays on theater.
