Requirements / organisational issues:
Complementary or additional qualification for Germanists and historians - May be taken for modules in B.A. (Replacement module) and M.A. Romance Intercultural - open to listeners of all disciplines. Erasmus (incoming) students from abroad are welcome.

Content:

A1. Familiar topics. Describing oneself, one’s own activities, those of the others, the familiar environment. General presentation of the other. Simple instructions. Asking for and providing general information. Common questions and answers. Simple greetings.

A2. Social contacts, introductions, thanking, offering, invitations, apologies. Polite formulas. Personal timetable. Agreeing, disagreeing, suggestions, reactions to proposals.

Practicing phonetics, vocabulary; grammar; oral and written communication; listening-comprehension, simple texts, authentic documents; basic conversational structures and speech acts.

Evaluation: A1, A2 test:

a)      phonetics, vocabulary, grammar (listening and reading comprehension and written text production; 120 min.; 67%);

b)      oral communication (10 min.; 33%).

Aims / Results / Competences: A1, min. A1.1; A2, min. A2.1.

By the end of the course, the student

(A1) uses an elementary set of simple expressions to give information about oneself and current necessities.

(A2) can provide personal details, ask for information to handle habitual situations, describe habitual activities, express one’s wishes, by using simple acquired formulas, with some interruptions and hesitations, to speak, not being always able to speak out one’s ideas.

Contents:
The course is aimed at students who have no knowledge of the Romanian language and introduces into the vocabulary as well as to the basic principles of spelling and grammar. Detailed exercises give an opportunity to apply and deepen the learned structures.

We sing Romanian hits and speak Romanian. We talk about daily activities, hobbies and news in culture, technology and sports. We write short compositions about what we wish this world and ourselves to be.

The recommended material is indicative. Students may wish to bring their own materials to class. We will use them in our talks.
