Contents:
This class will dedicate itself to the study of the Robinsonade, i.e. the desert-island castaway narrative. Starting with the first novel in English, Daniel Defoe's Robinson Crusoe, we will see how the text was satirised in the 18th century before moving on to 20th-century texts interested in human nature and the West's colonial heritage.
