This course is designed for advanced students in the MAT/MAKD program, who have English as their A, B, or C language.
Active involvement in the class is appreciated. There will be no assessment of achievement (no papers or tests).
Course description:
In this course, we will try and develop an understanding of culture-specific language and its transfer, through interpreting and translating, into German as the target language/culture. Based on US culture, strategies for handling culture-specific terms will be discussed and applied. For this, we will look at examples from politics, history, business, the law, sports and popular culture.
